IRPAS-SMU INVESTOR RELATIONS SURVEY: THE ROLE OF INVESTOR RELATIONS IN THE MODERN DAY CORPORATION
IRPAS and Singapore Management University (SMU) jointly conducted this survey of IROs in Singapore across all SGX-listed companies to examine the role of investor relations (IR) in today’s modern corporations, provide insights into the structure and organisation of the IR function, and obtain feedback on specific initiatives these IROs would like IRPAS to offer. Highlights of the survey were:
- 94% of large and mid-cap companies have a dedicated IR office or IRO, compared to 32% of small-cap companies
- 75% of companies without a dedicated IRO said the function is performed by the Chief Financial Officer
- Over two-thirds of IROs attend C-suite management meetings, reflecting the importance of the IR role
The IRPAS-SMU collaborative IR survey was conducted in March 2013, and the results of the survey were presented at a roundtable held in Singapore on Tuesday, 10 December 2013.
