IRPAS Newsletter: October 2014

President’s Address

Greetings, members and friends. As President of IRPAS, I am pleased to present you with our third official newsletter for 2014 to keep you up-to-date on the latest news and happenings within the Association and the IR industry.

Review of July, August and September 2014

The past three months were very eventful with IRPAS successfully launching the International Certificate in Investor Relations (CIR) for 2014 in Singapore, as well as continuing to organise informative networking events for members.

International Certificate in Investor Relations 2014

We are delighted that so many members have registered for the CIR and accompanying revision course. A big thank you to Simon Weston for delivering a useful revision session for those who signed up for the class. IRPAS would like to wish all candidates taking the examination this Saturday, 11 October 2014 all the best! We will be naming the list of candidates who pass the examination in the next IRPAS update, so stay tuned!

Networking Events

We were delighted to see so many of you at the “Networking and telling your professional and corporate stories on LinkedIn” event on 29 August 2014, where Roger Pua, Director, Head of Corporate Communications, LinkedIn, and Jeanne Lee, Sales Manager, Talent Solutions, LinkedIn, shared their thoughts on the use of LinkedIn to better position and brand your company, and insights into the demographics of LinkedIn users in Asia Pacific. They also discussed tips on how to better “put a face to the name”, and manage the brand identity of your LinkedIn profile.

Our most recent event on 2 October 2014 discussed a current hot topic, “Corporate Reporting Levelling Up: The <Integrated Reporting> Journey”. We hosted a presentation session and roundtable discussion with a panel of distinguished speakers, including Dr Miao Bin, Research Director, Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and Darrell Lim, Head of Investor Relations, Singapore Exchange (SGX). Through case studies and practitioner experience, industry experts highlighted the importance of having a more cohesive approach to corporate reporting, and provided attendees with insights into cutting-edge international best practices in the field of <IR>.
